              Step 3: Map out data flows to establish relationships.

              Draw lines (usually arrows) between the system and each external entity to represent the relationships or interactions between them.

              These arrows are the “verbs” of the diagram, showing the actions happening between your system and the entities.

              • Direction: The arrowhead points to where the data is GOING.

              • Content: Label the arrow to briefly describe WHAT data is being sent/received.
