Some facts about integrating AI in the workplace

73% of CEOs identified AI as a top investment priority, and 92% of companies plan to increase their investments in AI in the next three years. Yet only 1% of leaders believe their organization is “mature” enough to handle large-scale AI deployment to fully integrate AI in workflows. And more importantly, to drive larger business outcomes.

Surveys suggest AI users experienced huge hikes in productivity. 81% say their work output and quality has improved. But recent studies in healthcare showed that while AI improved work quality by 2.8%, it lowered the number of reports by 4.3%.

Most people know of ChatGPT and by association, LLMs. We’re comfortable talking about what it could be used for, but is there an unspoken stigma about using it for work? Are we considered lazy if we openly admit we use AI to assist with our work? Or does the judgement of using AI to shortcut our processes discourage AI adoption?

When widespread adoption from ChatGPT3.5 to 4.0 happened, there was an “inflection point” in progress, meaning there was a “honeymoon phase” (where AI and human workers work side by side) to the “substitution phase” (where AI replaces the worker). Some professions like developers will benefit more from newer iterations of LLMs and advanced use cases. Others may experience disruptive change that actually completely changes their role, if not displace them.
