Spotlight on Video Content Creators – Piktochart’s New Video Tutorial Gallery

Here at Piktochart, we’re always excited to hear what the team at Buffer has to say. From articles about startup culture and building products to trends in marketing and books they are reading – the content they release into the world has our attention!

When we were reading their State of Social Media 2016 report, something stood out:

“Video is about to hit the peak!” they declared. “Now’s the time to get on.”

In short, after talking to 1,200 marketers, Buffer’s research found that marketers want to be making more video, but can’t.

“Eighty-three percent of marketers said they’d like to create more video content if they didn’t have restraints such as time and resources,” Ash Read writes in the report. “We also found that 30 percent of marketers are looking to spend more time focused on Facebook video in 2017, with 28 percent also looking to add YouTube to their marketing stack.”

Just two months prior to reading Buffer’s report, we had started working on a new project behind-the-scenes here at Piktochart. It’s called our Video Tutorial Gallery, and we are thrilled to share it with you!

A New Idea Ignited

Try searching “Piktochart” on YouTube and you’ll see there are more than 11,000 results!

Only 35 of these videos were created by our team, while the rest are videos created by the Piktochart community. Each and every week, alerts about new uploads come across our desk. It’s amazing to see Piktochart community members take time to share our tool with others – from teachers showing students how to get started on a class assignment to professional content creators uploading a review of Piktochart.

Watching video after video, we were struck with an idea. What if we shared our favorite Piktochart tutorials with our community in the hopes that they could learn a bit about our tool from fellow users? Imagine if we had a place to curate these tutorials and amplify their reach to the entire Piktochart community. The idea to create a collection of Piktochart video tutorials was born.

After all, in Buffer’s State of Social Media 2016 report, they found that if there were no hurdles (things like time, resources, and budget), 83% of marketers would like to create more video content. For small startups like us here at Piktochart, why not turn to users who are already creating high quality, trusted video content?

Meet a Video Content Creation Team

One of our favorite Piktochart-focused videos was created by the SignAgents, a group passionate about the digital signage industry. They showed how someone can use Piktochart to create their own digital signage. According to Visix, when people say “digital signage” or “electronic signage,” they’re talking about digital displays used to inform and persuade. You can find this signage popping up in public spaces all over the world.

“I’m the head of marketing at Adversign Media,” said Tim Strähle, one of three members of the SignAgents. “Our business is digital signage, and I also like to engage with latest trends and insights in the industry. I’m more of a working-type rather than a theoretical guy, and I guess that’s why I’m so into our YouTube SignAgents work as well.”

Created by Tim, Mike Spelz, and Sebastian Spies, the team’s YouTube channel has racked up 15,000 views in 11 months.

“We started the channel because we see a lot of potential in our industry that we want to show,” said Tim. “Most of the people don’t really know anything about digital signage and probably find it hard to engage in that topic further because, let’s face it, it’s digital technology. People are put off by technical topics.”

To curb the feeling of intimidation, the trio thought sharing their passion through easy-to-digest videos might be a promising solution. With sites like Facebook seeing more than 4 billion video streams daily, video has quickly become an easy way to take in new information. SignAgents felt that marrying their passion with a format for easy learning would be a home run.

“People can see what’s actually being explained instead of just reading about it,” said Tim. “When people use software like Piktochart, it’s often hard to understand the different steps if you don’t have a lot of experience. We want to show our audience that digital technologies and software products can be fun and easy to work with.”

SignAgents Showcase Piktochart

In the beginning, the SignAgents trio started using Piktochart for non-video content that included text.

“We want all of our content to be fun and easy to absorb as well as understandable, just like we want our videos to be fun,” said Tim. “The design possibilities with Piktochart seemed just right for us and our content creation.”

Tim explained that content creation is a huge component in digital signage displays seen all around the world. He and his team are passionate about sharing tips and tricks on how to create appealing and eye-catching content for digital signage installation, and Piktochart is in their toolbox.

“The best way to create a trusted video is to discuss a topic, software, or tool you use and would recommend yourself,” said Tim. “There are many options to use Piktochart in content creation, especially for videos to display on digital signs and for video marketing in general. It is very promising for content types in the future since digitization and modernization are unstoppable.”

Why We Champion User-Created Videos

Meeting video content creators like Tim, Mike, and Sebastian is exciting for our team. It’s wonderful to see Piktochart users around the world taking time to show others how they are creating amazing content using our tool. We believe in featuring these videos to propel education and showcase the great work of these content creators.

“The best way to create reliable reviews is by showing own usage experiences and recommendations on the basis of real empirical values,” said Tim. “It’s powerful because real applications and real people’s recommendations are not fake. That’s what users want to see. That’s how users with less knowledge about a topic feel safe when evaluating and deciding on a certain product.”

“We are absolutely sure that video production already is and will continuously grow to be the thing in content creation, content distribution, and content in general in a world that’s becoming more and more digital.”

We couldn’t agree more!

A special thank you to each and every content creator featured on our new Piktochart Video Tutorial Gallery.
