    I think there is a flaw in your math. Wouldn’t the average cost of a wedding by your calculations be $30,000 not $300,000. Because yeah… weddings don’t generally cost more than a small house.

    Another moronic attempt by the wedding industry to inflate expectations for wedding costs. I’ve paid for 7 weddings in the past 20 years, all of them typical middle-class affairs with 100 – 200 guests – just like scores of others that I’ve attended. Inflation adjusted averages: reception $15/guest, clothes $2,000, reception venue $0, service $0, flowers & decorations $750, no alcohol, photography $1,000, invitations $2.50 each, music $250, total $7,000 (not including wedding rings and honeymoon which have little to do with a wedding).
